Who is Dennis Rodman?

Dennis Keith Rodman, an American retired professional basketball player, was born on May 13, 1961, in Trenton, New Jersey. He played for the Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, and Los Angeles Lakers.

Dennis was born as the son of Philander Rodman, and his wife, Shirley Rodman. He grew up with his siblings, Debra Rodman and Kim Rodman. He is born with the sun sign Taurus. Also, with a height of 6 feet 7 inches, he can maintain his body fit and healthy.

Rodman went to South Oak Cliff High School. During his school, he came in contact with Texas A&M basketball coach, Gary Blair. Later, he attended Cooke County College in Gainesville, Texas. There, he joined the basketball team. For higher education,  he then joined the Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

The Career of Dennis Rodman

Dennis was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 1986. In the 1987-88 season, Rodman played well with an average of 11.6 points and 8.7 rebounds. They were to the finals of the 1988 NBA but unfortunately lost to Los Angeles Lakers. Likewise, in the season 1988-89, he played with an average of 9.0 points and 9.4 rebounds in 27 minutes. Eventually, Pistons made the finals beating Lakers. Rodman was one of the leading players to contribute to the club’s victories. He earned a spot in the 1990 NBA All-Star team, by his strong defense and exemplary rounding skills.

Moreover, in 1992, he won the first of the seven consecutive rebounding crowns. Later in 1993, the coach of Pistons, Chuck Daly, resigned. So, though Rodman had a few more years left on his contract, he left the club.

Rodman was then traded to the San Antonio Spurs. There, he played as a power forward. Besides, he involved in multiple controversies for his unruly behavior. Also, he suspended twice and later came back to the game after 19 games.

Meanwhile, Rodman was again traded to the Chicago Bulls in the 1995-96 season. There he played as a power forward. The player played his first triple-double against the Philadelphia 76ers. Also, subsequently, he head-butted the referee during the game. So, he was fined $20 thousand and suspended for six games. Besides, he won many rebounding titles. Later, he went to join the Los Angeles Lakers for a short time. After, he retired with the Dallas Mavericks.

Though Rodman tried to return on the basketball, he could not repeat any of his success. Eventually, he initiated into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2011.

Other works

After his break from the basketball, Rodman went onto wrestling and entertainment, and in WCD Nitro with his friends. Also, he participated in Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling and won.

Moreover, he also started his own talk show in 1996, named “The Rodman World Tour” on MTV. Likewise, in 1997, he appeared in his own film “Double Team.” Also, in 1999, he starred in another movie named “Simon Sez.” Then, he participated in many reality TV shows. Also, he released his autobiography.

In 2017, he was in the controversy, after he visited North Korea. He was questioned if President Donald Trump sent him for a visit. In reply, he said he was not involved in any governmental works.

Rodman is married twice. Firstly, he married Annie Bakes. Also, they had a daughter together named Alexis. Later, he married model and actress Carmen Electra and divorced after a year. Then, he met his next wife, Michelle Moyer. Also, the couple has two kids, Dennis Junior and Trinity. However, the couple again separated.
