Education
Wiseman attended the Ensworth School located in Nashville, Tennessee. He played high school basketball there. He attended the Eagles Athletic Union team. Later, he transferred to Memphis East High School after the sophomore year. He then attended the University of Memphis on the 20th of November, 2018.
The Career of James Wiseman
Wiseman played basketball for his high school and was teammates with Jordan Bone as well. ESPN ranked him as the top 25 players in the recruiting class of 2019 due to his excellent basketball skills. Later, he became a part of the Amateur Athletic Team (AAU).
Wiseman was named the MaxPreps Sophomore All-American honorable mention due to his contributions in a game during his sophomore year.
He joined the team Penny for the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League circuit. He then transferred to the Memphis East High School under coach Penny Hardaway. Wiseman then quickly rose to become the number one overall recruit for 2019.
Wiseman was a five-star recruit and various media considered him as the top recruit of the 2019 class. He committed to Memphis on the 20th of November, 2018 and reunited with coach Penny.
He made his regular-season debut with the team against South Carolina State on the 5th of November, 2019. However, he was ruled ineligible for the National Collegiate Athletic Association because of allegations about coach Penny Hardaway paying for his living expenses and acted as a booster.
National Team Career
Wiseman played for the United States for the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship and helped the team win a gold medal against Canada. However, he could not join the national team for the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup due to his injury.
