Who is Alan Rickman?

Alan Rickman is an English actor and director who enthusiastically worked in the entertainment field from 1974 till his last breath. He was a renowned actor who received prominence from his stage plays in the Royal Shakespeare Company. This actor was well-known for his acting role in ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ which is a stage play. Rickman mostly portrayed the villainous nature though he did not have a strong muscular body. Likewise, his famous villain role is Severus Snape in the film series ‘Harry Potter.’ Apart from this role, he also acted in romantic and comedy movies, series. Sadly, this versatile actor died in 2016 due to terminal cancer.

Alan’s full name was Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman, born on 21 February 1946 in Acton, West London. He was born to a working-class family where his father Bernard William Rickman, worked as a factory worker, house painter, and decorator. While his mother, Margaret Doreen Rose was a housewife. His father passed away due to lung cancer when he was eight years old. Likewise, he was raised by his single mother alongside two brothers, David and Michael, and a sister, Sheila. Additionally, he belonged to a Pisces star sign and was 69 years old when he left this world.

Alan Rickman dated Rima Horton when he was 19 years old. He then secretly married Rima in 2012. They lived together from 1997 to 2016, till his last breath. Likewise, they do not have any children.

Apart from this, his hands were also on the charity where he was the president of the International Performers’ Aid Trust. Moreover, he also used to raise the funds and create awareness programs.

Death of Alan Rickman

On 14 January 2016, Alan passed away at the age of 69 due to the last stage of pancreatic cancer. Likewise, his ashes were given to his wife, Rima Horton

Before joining television and films, Alan worked as a stage artist in theatre. His debut stage play happened in the 1976 play ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He then worked in different theatre plays like Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal Court Theatre, Royal National Theatre, and many more. Meanwhile, his first television appearance happened in the BBC Television Shakespeare series ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in 1978. Alan Rickman landed his debut film in the 1988 film ‘Die Hard’ as Hans Gruber. In the next few years, he appeared in small roles in different movies like ‘The January Man,’ ‘Closet Land,’ ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply,’ and many more.
