The Chicago White Sox is a professional American Baseball team that is based in Chicago, Illinois. As a member club of the American League (AL) Central division, the White Sox compete in Major League Baseball (MLB). Furthermore, the White Sox, owned by Jerry Reinsdorf, played their home games at the Guaranteed Rate Field, situated on the city’s South Side. They are one of the two major league clubs in Chicago, while the other is the Chicago Cubs.
Known as the American League’s eight charter franchises, the Chicago White Sox was established in 1901 as a major league baseball club. Moreover, it was initially referred to as the Chicago White Stockings.
The White Sox won the World Series of 1906 with a defense-oriented team dubbed “The Hitless Wonders.” Subsequently, the World Series of 1917 which was led by the Black Sox Scandal. Meanwhile, many members were accused of conspiring with gamblers to fix games, which as a response, the players were banned from the MLB for life. However, in 1959, the White Sox won the American League pennant in 2005 and went to win the World Series MVP.
