Early Life

Jones attended Burges High School, located in El Paso, Texas. He played high school football there. 247Sports.com rated him a three-star composite. Jones attended UTEP and played college football for the UTEP Miners under head coach Sean Kugler from 2013–2016. He played in nine games during his freshman years. Furthermore, Devin played in 12 games as a sophomore. He played in 12 games as a senior.

Career

Green Bay Packers drafted Jones as the 182nd overall in the fifth round in the 2017 NFL Draft. Furthermore, he was the 19th running back selected in that year’s draft. He signed a contract with the team on the 5th of May, 2017.

Jones has suspended the first two games of the 2018 season on the 3rd of July, 2018. This was for violating the NFL’s Substance Abuse policy. His first game after the suspension was on the 23rd of September. There, he rushed six times for 42 yards in a game against Washington Redskins in a 31-17 loss. Furthermore, he took over the starting duties in Week 6. However, he continued to share carries with Williams and Montgomery. He had enough rushes to qualify for the NFL leaderboards by week 9. Jones took over the top spot in yards-per-rush at 6.02. Furthermore, he had 15 carries for a career-high 145 yards on the 11th of November.

Moreover, Devin handed two rushing touchdowns in a 31–12 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. He caught his first NFL receiving touchdown the following week and ran for another in a 24–27 loss to Seattle. He scored his fifth touchdown in three games in Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings. However, Jones suffered a knee injury in Week 15. Therefore, he was placed on injured reserve on the 18th of December, 2018. He finished the 2018 season with 728 rushing yards overall as well as eight rushing touchdowns, as well as 26 receptions, 206 receiving yards, and one receiving score.

Jones cited for a traffic stop, an incident that occurred on the 1st of October on the 20th of November, 2017. Jones was speeding at 79 MPH at a 55 MPH speed limit on the day of the incident. Furthermore, he was caught in possession of marijuana. Later, Jones was arrested and charged with operating with a restricted controlled substance, as well as operating without a valid license and speeding. However, Jones pleaded no contest to the charges and was fined for court costs. His license suspended for six months.
