Who is Billie Eilish?

Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell is an American singer and songwriter. She is best known for her successful debut single, “Ocean Eyes.” She had joined a choir at the age of 8, and by the time she turned 11, she began writing and singing her own songs. She is the youngest person and second person ever to win the four main Grammy categories. Time magazine placed her on their inaugural “Time 100 Next” list in 2019. She is also the 23^rd biggest artist of the digital singles era, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

Bio

Billie was born on December 18, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, United States. She is currently 18 years old. She is a daughter to mother, Maggie Baird who is a teacher, actress and screenwriter and to father, Patrick O’Connell who is a construction worker and also has worked as an actor, appearing in the films like Iron Man. While growing up, she saw her elder brother, Finneas O’Connell, fall in love with music. Additionally, her mother wrote songs and her father played instruments such as the piano and the ukulele. The musical vibe in the house inspired her to make a career in music.

Early Life

Billie grew up listening to the music of “The Beatles” and Avril Lavigne. Her father loved making mixtapes of various artists. She was homeschooled for most of her early years, but that did not stop her from participating in extracurricular activities. She loved acting in homemade films and also sang and danced whenever she found a chance. As she turned 8 years old, she joined a choir and sang with them for three years.

Billie was already writing and composing songs of her own by the time she was 11 years old. She also made several short films and shot them on a camera and edited them. Billie took dance classed in her early teenage years. She aimed at making big career in the show business with a plethora of skills. Her brother had a band of his own where he had written a song named “Ocean Eyes.” He asked her to record it in her voice which turned out to be the breakthrough for her which boosted her career.

Career

In October 2015, Billie recorded the song “Ocean Eyes,” which was uploaded on SoundCloud in early 2016. The song shot up and registered more than 10 million hits within a short period of time. A music video with Billie dancing on the song was released on November 2016 which turned out to be another success. Towards the end of the year, she released another single named “Six Feet Under.” Inspired by the success of her debut single “Ocean Eyes,” she recorded four remixes of the song and compiled them all in an EP titled “Ocean Eyes.” All the remixed became big hits and gave her enough courage to carry on with her future projects.

Billie released the single “Bellyache” in February 2017 which was produced and co-written by her brother. The music video of the song was released in March 2017. Then, she recorded a song titled “Bored” which was included in the official soundtrack of the famous Netflix series “13 Reasons Why.” The same year, she released two more singles which include “Watch” and “Copycat.” She also announced her highly awaited debut EP, “Don’t Smile at Me” the same year.

2018-Present

Before the official release of the EP, she released two singles from the same “My Boy” and “Idontwannabeyouanymore.” The same year, she collaborated with Vince Staples and released a remix of her song “Watch” which was renamed as “&Burn.” In order to promote herself more, she embarked on a tour in January 2018. She again collaborated with famous American singer Khalid and worked with him on a single “Lovely” in 2018. This song featured in the second season of the series “13 reasons Why. The same year, she released the singles “Bitches Broken Hearts” and “You Should See Me in a Crown.”

On November 2019, Eilish released her another single “Everything I Wanted. She became the performer of the title track for the 25th instalment in the James Bond film franchise, “No Time to Die” released on February 13, 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she along with her brother performed for both iHeart Media’s Living Room Concert for America and Global Citizen’s Together at Home concerts to raise the awareness and fund towards fighting the disease.

Personal Life

Eilish has revealed that she suffers from Tourette syndrome and also experiences synesthesia as well as struggling with depression. She was vegetarian since birth and regularly advocated veganism on social media.
