Colin Kelly Jost is an American comedian, actor and writer. He is best known for his work on the popular talk show “Saturday Night Live” where he has been serving as a writer since 2005. He is also known for co-anchoring “Weekend Update” since 2014. As a stand-up comedian, he has performed on the show “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and also has made appearances on HBO and TBS. Eventually, he also writes articles for “The Huffington Post,” “The New York Times Magazine,” “Staten Island Advance” and “Radar. He was honoured with the title of Breakout Artist by “Carolines on Broadway” in 2011.

Colin was born on July 29, 1982, in Grymes Hill, Staten Island, New York, United States. He is currently 38 years old. He was a son to mother, Kerry Kelly who was the chief medical officer for the New York City Fire Department and to father, Daniel A. Jost who is a former teacher at Staten Island Technical High School. He was raised in the Grymes Hill neighbourhood of Staten Island, New York. He has a younger brother named as Casey Jost who had a role in Staten Island Summer and also is a writer for Impractical Jokers.

Jost was raised as Roman Catholic. He had attended Regis High School in Manhattan, where he was the editor of the school newspaper The Owl. Then, he went on to attend Harvard University where he studied the History and Literature of Russia and Britain and also was president of the Harvard Lampoon.

Career

Jost had won $5,250 on a college edition of Weakest Link while at Harvard. After his graduation, he was hired as a writer at NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 2005. He was SNL’s writing supervisor from 2009 to 2012. Furthermore, He was also a co-head writer from 2012 to 2015 where he regained that status in late 2017. He often collaborates with his fellow SNL co-head writer Rob Klein.

Furthermore, He includes Norm Macdonald as a primary influence for his Update anchor work, as Macdonald’s tone was the one he grew up with in high school. He also includes Tina Fey as an influence. In addition to Weekend Update, he made a brief cameo appearance as Ohio Governor John Kasich in a Republican presidential debate sketch.

Josh alongside Michael Che appeared in the episode of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, where both announced as special correspondents for Wrestle Mania 35 on March 4, 2019. The same day, they got involved in a storyline with wrestler Braun Strowman which resulted in them becoming participants in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania. At the event, Josh and Che went under the ring for the majority of the match and then tried to eliminate Strowman while he was trying to do the same to the Hardy Boyz. He attempted to calm the situation by using his therapist, but Strowman chokeslammed him and eliminated the two comedians in quick succession. Eventually, Strowman won the battle royal.

Personal Life

Josh started a relationship with actress, Scarlett Johansson in May 2017. It was confirmed that the couple were engaged in May 2019.

In April 2019, Josh also got involved in controversy when Uproxx writer Steven Hyden published an article detailing the public backlash against him. This caused Jost’s Weekend Update co-anchor Che to criticize Hyden and allegedly vandalize Hyden’s Wikipedia page.
