Who is David Johnson?
David Johnson is a professional American football player. He plays the position of running back for the club Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).
Early Years
Johnson attended Clinton High School situated in Clinton, Iowa. He was a three-sport star in football, track, as well as basketball. He played for the River Kings high school football as a running back and defensive back. David set numerous records in school. These records include:

Johnson led Clinton to an 11–1 record as a senior. Furthermore, he accounted for a school-record with 42 touchdowns. He was selected 2009 Outstanding Offensive Player for Clinton for his efforts. Johnson compiled an impressive 4,682 rushing yards in four seasons. Furthermore, he had achieved 49 rushing touchdowns to go along with 1,734 receiving yards and another 14 receiving touchdowns. Moreover, he played at the 2010 Shrine Bowl All-Star Game and showed excellent vision and speed. Johnson maintained over a 3.0 GPA academically throughout high school.
The University of Northern Iowa and Illinois state offered Johnson with an athletic scholarship. However, he chose the University of Northern Iowa to play college football.
College Career
David Johnson attended Northern Iowa college from 2010 to 2014. He was redshirted in 2010. Furthermore, he played in 13 games and started 5 games. He played those games as a redshirt freshman in 2011. He had 179 rushes for 822 yards with nine rushing touchdowns in games. Furthermore, he also had 33 receptions for 422 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson started seven of 12 games as a sophomore in 2012.
Johnson started 10 of 11 games as a junior. Furthermore, he rushed for 1,286 yards on 222 carries. Johnson rushed for 1,553 yards on 287 carries as a senior with 17 rushing touchdowns. Moreover, he returned 12 kickoffs for 438 yards and one touchdown. Johnson set numerous school records during his college years. This included career rushing yards, career rushing touchdowns, and career all-purpose yards.
Professional Career of David Johnson
The Arizona Cardinals selected Johnson as the 86th overall in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Furthermore, he was the seventh running back to be selected in the draft that year. Initially, The Arizona Cardinals planned to draft Ameer Abdullah. However, they found out that he signed with Detriot Lions in the second-round pick. Therefore, they chose David Johnson. Furthermore, he is the highest-drafted player from Northern Iowa after Brad Meester.
