What is Hallmark Movies?

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which was previously known as Hallmark movie channel, is an American digital cable and satellite television channel, which is a spin-off from sister network Hallmark Channel and is owned by Crown Media Holdings. Furthermore, this channel airs family-oriented features and made-for-TV movies with some limited number of murder and mystery-themed television series. Also, Hallmark movies and mysteries are available to approximately 48% of households with a television in the United States as of February 2015.

The Hallmark Movie Channel is an outlet for new series available to the Hallmark Channel (HC). However, these movies did not have the time allotment in the channel and launched in January 2004. Crown Media started to shift their Mystery Movie film series in 2008 from Hallmark Channel to Hallmark Movies channel as they were having more success with lighter romances. The circuit-switched over to HD format on the 2nd of April, 2008.

The Hallmark Channel and sister channel Hallmark Movie Channel was dropped by AT&T U-verse on the 1st of September, 2010, due to a carriage dispute but returned to U-verse as of July 23, 2015.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Hallmark Movie Channel was announced to be rebranded as Hallmark Movies & Mysteries in October of 2014. The company was trying to differentiate between the two channels, which feature different programming while rebranding. Hallmark reestablished a mystery wheel series in the new brand under the name “Original Mystery Wheel” in 2015. This was previously on the Hallmark Channel from 2004 to 2008.

Reporters reported that Crown Media would add a brand new cable network titled Hallmark Drama on the 28th of July, 2017. This launched on the 1st of October 2017.

The Hallmark movies channel features mystery, western, and family-friendly movies, and mini-series. They mainly from the Hallmark Channel library and original films that had once premiered on Hallmark Channel earlier. It also features a small number of films from Walt Disney Pictures, Hallmark Hall of Fame, and Touchstone Pictures.

The first original movie to premiere on the channel Hallmark movies was Son of the Dragon. It broadcasted on the 2nd of April, 2008, and lots of videos have since premiered on the channel. The channel begins airing the scripted television series to its schedule in July 2010. Some of the series are She Wrote, Murder, Matlock, Hart to Hart, The Good Wife, and Perry Mason.

The network announced that it is partnering with the NYU Tisch School of the Arts’ Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and TV. The school’s students and alumni did it to showcase short films.
