Henry Winkler

Henry Winkler, an American actor, comedian, director, producer, and author was born on October 30, 1945. He was born as the son of Harry Irving Winkler, and his wife Ilse Anne Marie. He has the star sign Scorpio. Henry holds the nationality of America, and as per ethnicity, he belongs to Ashkenazi Jewish. With the height of 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m) and the weight of about 56 kg, he has been able to maintain his body healthy and fit. About his education, he is a BA from Emerson College in 1967, and from the Yale School of Drama, he earned an MFA.

Career

Henry started his career debuting on television as an extra on a game show. Later, returning to New York City, he had an appearance in television commercials, and he kept on going in commercials so that he could do theatre for free at Manhattan Theatre Club. In January 1974, he was cast in “Happy Days”, as the role of Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli, and was nicknamed as the “The Fonz”, or “Fonzie”. He gradually became the focus of the show as time passed, as his role remained very much a rough-hewn outsider.

In the earlier days of the show, he appeared wearing two different kinds of windbreaker jackets. But later, it was decided that Henry could wear only the leather jackets with his motorcycle in the scene, so he made his appearance with his motorcycle until season 2. He had an appearance in 1974 in “The Lords of Flatbush”, in 1977 in “Heroes”, in 1978 in “The one and Only”, in 1979 in “An American Christmas carol”, during his time on “Happy Days”. Also, he appeared as a host in the 1979 Music for UNICEF Concert.

Henry established the “Winkler-Rich Productions”, collaborating with John Rich. He had an appearance on numerous TV shows including “So Weird”, “Mr. Sunshine”, “Macgyver”, among many others. Also, he directed “Cop and a Half” in 1993, and “Memories of Me” in 1988. In 1990, he returned to acting and starred in the film “Absolute Strangers”. He appeared in the Fox TV comedy “Arrested Development” and in the CBS for one season in “Out of Practice”.
