Who is Kirsten Flipkens?

Kirsten “Flipper” Flipkens is a professional tennis player. She was born on the 10th of January, 1986 in Geel, Belgium. She was a successful player since the beginning of her career. Flipkens was the winner of the girls’ doubles title at the 2002 US Open. Furthermore, she won the 2003 Wimbledon Championship and the 2003 US Open. The 2013 Wimbledon Championships is her best Grand Slam performance. She reached the semifinal in the competition. Also, she was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year award at the Belgian Sports Awards in 2013. Flipkens entered in her first Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. As a result, she made it to the third round in singles. Furthermore, Kirsten is the Belgian player who has played the most years in the Fed Cup. As a result, she received the Fed Cup Commitment Award.

Kirsten Flipkens was born as the only child of a car dealer and a housewife. She started playing when she was 4. She also played football, volleyball, and basketball but later chose tennis as her profession. Flipkens speaks four languages: Dutch, English, French, and German. Prescripted glasses is one of her trademarks. She wears glasses because she is myopic.
