Michael Caine is a big name in the entertainment industry. Bio

Caine was born on March 14, 1933, as Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, in London, England. He is the son of father Maurice Joseph Micklewhite and mother Ellen Frances Marie. Maurice was a fish market porter by profession whereas Ellen was a cook and chairwoman. Furthermore, Michael has two siblings, both brothers.

Early Life

In 1944, Caine passed his eleven-plus examination. Then, he studied at Hackney Downs School with a scholarship. However, he transferred to Wilson’s Grammar School located in Camberwell a year later. While schooling there, he grew an interest in literature influenced by his English teacher. He then received his school-leaving certificate in 1949 and started working as a filing clerk in a film company.

Career

Caine started his acting career with the movie Morning Departure in 1950. His role in the movie was uncredited. Similarly, he played another uncredited role in the movie Panic in the Parlour six years later. In the same year, he played the role of Private Lockyer in the movie A Hill In Korea. He also appeared in The Adventures of Sir Lancelot and BBC Sunday Night Theater in 1956. A year later, he appeared in Blood Money, BBC Sunday Night Theatre and Dixon of Dock Green for one episode each. Caine also played an uncredited role of Caine in The Steel Bayonet in the same year. He played many uncredited roles in movies like A Woman of Mystery, Carve Her Name with  Pride, The Key, Danger Within, The Bulldog Breed, The Day the Earth Caught Fire, and The Wrong Arm of the Law till 1963.

Caine got maximum recognition with the movie Alfie in 1966. He played the role of Alfie Elkins in the movie and earned him a nomination for Academy Award in the Best Actor category. In the same year, he appeared in movies The Wrong Box, Gambit, and Funeral In Heaven. Furthermore, he played the roles of Henry Warren, Handsome Stranger and Harry Palmer in movies Hurry Sundown, Woman Times Seven, and Billion Dollar Brain respectively. A year later, he played roles in movies Deadfall and The Magus. Caine appeared in numerous movies like Battle of Brain, Too Late the Hero,  Get Carter, Pulp, Sleuth, The Black Windmill, The Wilby Conspiracy, and Ashanti till 1979 to name a few.

His 1980s films include “Dressed to Kill,” “The Island,” “Educating Rita,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” “Mona Lisa,” “Jaws, The Revenge” and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Furthermore, His next two films are “Little voice” and The Cider House Rules. He started the next millennium with a period drama film “Quills” and followed it by “Miss Congeniality,” “Last Orders,” “The Quiet American,” “Secondhand Lions,” “Around the Bend” and The Dark Knight. In 2010, Caine starred in Inception. Then from 2016 to 2018, he starred in the films like “Not You See Me 2,” “Going in Style,” “Dunkirk,” “My Generation,” “Dear Dictator” and King of Thieves. The same year, he also voiced the animated film Sherlock Gnomes. Eventually, in 2020, he played in the fantasy drama film Come Away.

Personal Life

Michael married Patricia Haines, a professional actress in 1955. The couple has a daughter named Dominique, born in 1956. Unfortunately, they later divorced in 1962. He then married Shakira Bash, a professional actor and model in January of 1973. The coupled has a child together, a daughter named Natasha Caine.

Caine has been associated in the entertainment industry for a long time and has contributed in many films, series and dramas. He nominated in six Academy Awards with two wins, eight BAFTA Awards with one win, twelve Golden Globe Awards with three wins and three SAG Awards with one win.
