Rory McIlroy is a Northern Ireland professional golfer. He is a member of both the PGA and the European Tours. He was born on the 4th of May, 1989 in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland to Rosie and Gerry Mcilroy. Furthermore, he was world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking for 95 weeks. He then became a member of Europe’s Junior Ryder Team from 1999 till 2004. Mcilroy turns professional in 2007 and wins a silver medal at the Open, Carnoustie. On his first European tour in 2009, he won the Dubai Desert Classic. His first PGA Tour win is at Quail Hollow Championship in 2010.

Mcilroy won the US Open at congressional in 2011. He went on to win the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island in 2012. He won his first Ryder Cup in 2012. In 2014, he won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. He won his second Open Championships in 2014 at Hoylake. Furthermore, he won the US PGA Championship at Valhalla in the same year. Furthermore, he won the Ryder’s Cup three times consecutively at the Gleneagles.

Mcilroy is a Roman Catholic and identifies himself as Irish, Northern Irish, and British. Previously, he lived in County Down. However, his house was put up for sale in 2012. Later, he purchased a $10 million property in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Furthermore, Mcilroy is an ambassador of UNICEF Ireland as well as PGA Junior League Golf.
