Rudy Giuliani was a law student, so after he graduated, he did volunteering works for Robert F. Kennedy. After this, he realized his leadership qualities and then went to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in 1970. He established himself as Chief of the Narcotics Unit and also got select as the executive U.S. attorney. After working there for seven years, he decided to leave the United States Attorney’s Office in 1977.

He then focused on his personal work for which he involved with Patterson, Belknap, Webb, and Tyler in New York. After four years of hardship, he finally became President Reagan’s Associate Attorney General in 1981. He also served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. During this time, the crime rate decreased in the city to one third. He mostly concentrated on stopping corruption, crime groups, and drug dealing.

Then, he elected for mayor of New York City, but he could not grab this as he lost to Democrat David Dinkins by a small margin in 1989.
