Who are San Diego Padres?

The San Diego Padres are a San Diego, California based American professional baseball team. The Padres compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the National League (NL) West division. The San Diego Padres was founded in 1969 and they have won two NL pennants in the years 1984 and 1998, but lost in the World Series both years. They have had 14 winning seasons in franchise history as of 2018. The Padres are one of two Major League Baseball teams along with the Los Angeles Angels to originate from that state.

They are the only MLB team in the four major American professional sports league that does not share its city with another franchise. The Padres are the only major professional sports franchise that is located in San Diego since Chargers relocated to Los Angeles in 2017. They are also the only franchise in the MLB history to not have a no-hitter, although having gone 8020 games, which is a major league record to begin a franchise.

Although Famous Chicken is mistaken to be the Mascot of the San Diego Padres, the mascot for the team is the Swinging Friar.
