Early Life
He was born on the 20th of July, 1991 in Grandview, Missouri. Burks was born to Steve and Dina Burks. Furthermore, he has an older brother named Steve Jr.
Burks attended Grandview High School. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri in 2009. Furthermore, he won titles like the Kansas City Star and Metro Sports Player of the Year during his senior year. Burks signed with Colorado before his senior year in November of 2008.
During his college years, he played for the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team. He was the school’s first-ever Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010. Burks was statistically the eighteenth-best scorer in Division I as a sophomore. He missed just a single game during his college years with Colorado. Burks nominated to the Big-12 First Team in the second season with the Buffaloes. This gained national attention. Furthermore, people projected him to be a first-round draft pick in the NBA draft despite playing just two seasons at Colorado.
Career
Utah Jazz selected Burks with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Jazz on the 9th of December, 2011. The Jazz exercised their third-year team option on Burks’ rookie scale contract on the 25th of October, 2012. They extended the contract through the 2013–14 season. The Jazz exercised their fourth-year team option on Burks’ rookie scale contract on the 29th of October, 2013. They extended the contract through the 2014–15 season.
Burks signed a four-year contract extension on the 31st of October, 2014.
Jazz traded Burks in exchange for Kyle Korver to Cleveland Cavaliers on the 29th of November, 2018. Later, Sacramento Kings acquired Burks in a three-team trade on the 7th of February, 2019.
Golden State Warriors signed Burks on the 11th of July, 2019.
