Early Life
He was born on the 30th of October, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Booker was born to Veronica Gutierrez and Melvin Booker. His father is the 1994 Big Eight Player of the Year and a point guard at Missouri. Booker lived with his mother in Grand Rapids while his father pursued a professional basketball career internationally. However, he visited his father regularly during the summer. Booker became friends with future NBA players D’Angelo Russell and Tyler Ulis during his time in middle school.
Career
Phoenix Suns picked Booker with the thirteenth overall pick on the 25th of June, 2015 in the 2015 NBA draft. He signed his rookie scale contract with the Suns on the 13th of July. He made his NBA debut two days before his 19th birthday. Booker played in the Suns’ season opener against the Dallas Mavericks.
Furthermore, he became the first player in NBA history to debut at 18 years old after playing at least one year of college basketball. Also, he began the season as a backup shooting guard throughout the early portion of the season. This included starts on the 23rd of November and the 21st of December. Furthermore, Booker was promoted to the starting line-up for the rest of the season after starting guard Eric Bledsoe had an injury on the 26th of December.
Booker signed a five-year, $158 million maximum contract extension with the Suns on the 7th of July, 2018. He was ruled out for six weeks after undergoing surgery on the 10th of September to repair the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint in his right hand. He jammed his hand in practice on the 14th of March, 2018.

Booker is eligible to play for Puerto Rico as well as Mexican national teams because he is of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent on his mother’s side. Booker has a younger half-sister who has microdeletion syndrome. Furthermore, he has an older brother named Davon Wade.
