Who is Felipe Vazquez?

Felipe Vazquez is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on July 5, 1991, in San Felipe, Yaracuy, Venezuela. Felipe played for the Washington Nationals previously. Moreover, he was named as “All-Stars” in 2018 and 2019.

Minor Leagues

On July 20, 2008, Felipe as an international free agent, dealt with the Tampa Bay Rays. Also, he was added in the roster of Rays in 2012, as he was in “All-Star Futures Game”.

In 2014, Washington Nationals traded Felipe. Felipe went through the elbow inflammation and limited to 14 games started. After, he got assign to the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League by the Nationals. Later, in 2015 he got to transition into a relief pitcher. Moreover, Felipe started the 2015 season with the Class AAA International League.

Washington Nationals

Felipe debuted in the minor league win over the Philadelphia Phillies. He chucked one inning, with two hits and one run. On April 22, he was unable to play due to gastrointestinal bleeding. Later, Nationals called him up on June 1 to the major league. He ended the match with 48 ¹⁄3 innings.

Likewise, in the 2016 season, Felipe attained a peak of 6.82. Also, in his 13 games, in total, he completed with 0.93 ERA lowering his season ERA to 4.53.

Pittsburgh Pirates

2016–17

The Nationals called up Felipe to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30, 2016. He completed 28 games with 3.29 ERA. Furthermore, as a setup reliever, he started the 2017 season. In 31 games, he had 0.58 ERA. This made him named co-closer for the Pirates. In total, Felipe had1.67 ERA and had 21 saves in 23 opportunities, in the 2017 season. The fastest pitch was 102.6 miles per hour.

2018–19: All-Star seasons

Felipe had signed the contract for four years with the Pirates. Felipe got select in the 2018 All-Star Game. Moreover, he completed a total of 2.70 ERA, with 37 saves.

Besides, Felipe was ejected after he was involved in a clubhouse fight. Moreover, on September 17, he was on leave by Major League Baseball.

Controversy

On September 17, 2019, Felipe was arrested with the charge fo computer pornography. Felipe was arrested in Pittsburgh. Lee County, Florida issued the warrant. He solicited a child and provided obscene materials to a minor.
