Herjavec lived in a small town named Zbjeg until he was eight years old. Later in 1970, he left the country along with his family and moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The state had previously incarcerated his father for speaking out against the regime. His family only had a single suitcase and $20 when he moved to another country. They settled in the basement of a family friend’s home for about 18 months. His father then worked on a factory and earned $76 per week. His family lived in an inferior condition. Herjavec, too, worked various minimum wage jobs in the 1990s to support his family. He took roles such as delivering newspapers, retail salesman, waiting tables, and debt collection.

Herjavec’s the first wife is Diane Please, whom she married in 1990. Furthermore, the couple has two daughters and one son together. However, they separated in 2014 and divorced in 2016. While he was working for productions, he applied at Logiquest selling IBM mainframe emulation boards. Although he was not qualified for the position, he convinced the company to offer him the job and got the job. Eventually, he rose to the area of General Manager of Logiquest.
