Scott Mayfield

Scott Mayfield is an American ice hockey player. He plays for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on the 14th of October, 1992 at St. Louis, Missouri, U.S. This 26-year-old player plays the position of defence for his team.

Career

Scott played for the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League (USHL) for two seasons from 2009-2011. He scored a total of 10 goals and 12 assists for the 2009-10 season and 7 goals and 9 assists in the 2010-11 season. Scott was selected to the 2010-11 USHL Eastern Conference All-Star team. He later committed to play for the University of Denver Pioneers that competes in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

He scored a total of 3 goals and 9 assists in the 2011-12 and 4 goals and 13 assists in the 2012-13 season. Scott got into selection as the 34th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. He agreed to the terms on a 3-year entry-level contract with the team on the 5th of April, 2013. He scored a total of 3 goals and 15 assists during the 2013-14 season.

Mayfield made his NHL debut with the Islanders in a 4-0 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on the 6th of April, 2014. He scored his first NHL goal in a 4-3 overtime loss against the Buffalo Sabres on the 9th of April, 2016. His first recall of the 2016-17 season was on the 14th of November, 2016 after defenceman Dennis Seidenberg suffered an injury. Mayfield re-signed the Islanders to a five-year, $7.25 million contract extension on the 4th of January, 2018.
