Who is Taco Charlton?

Taco Charlton is an American football defensive end who currently plays as a free agent. Taco was born on November 7, 1994, in Pickerington, Ohio. He was born to Tamara Charlton. Taco adores his mother and refers to her as his everything. Toco’s mother married his mother after Taco was four years. He is born with the zodiac sign Scorpio. Besides, with a height of 6 feet 6 inch, and weigh about 125 kg, he has been able to maintain his body fit as well as healthy.

College Career

Taco attended Pickerington High School in Pickerington, Ohio. Later, he enrolled at the University of Michigan for playing football. Also, he played basketball during high school. He was a football scholar at the University of Michigan. 

Taco played 10 games as a backup defensive end during 2013. In 2014, he played 12 games as a sophomore. In his junior year, he appeared in 13 games recording 30 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

During his senior year in 2016, he ended up with 38 tackles. Moreover, he was named to the “All-Big Ten defensive first-team”.

NFL Draft

After the university days, the NFL draft experts and analysts projected Taco for the first-round pick. Taco caught up Michigan’s Pro Day on March 24, 2017, along with other members.

Taco opted to run the 40, 20, and 10-yard dashes. He was able to cut times in all three, also running positional drills. Taco was placed as the sixth-best edge rusher in the draft by Sports Illustrated. Likewise, as the sixth-best defensive end by ESPN, and as the seventh-best edge rusher by Pro Football Focus.

Dallas Cowboys

Taco was selected by the Dallas Cowboys for the 2017 NFL Draft in the first round. Among the Michigan members, he was selected as the seventh defensive end. Taco signed a four years contract on May 11, 2017, with the Dallas Cowboys. In the training camp for a backup defensive end position, he competed with Charles Tapper, Damontre Moore, and Benson Mayowa.

Taco Charlton

Taco debuted in the season-opener against the New York Giants. He completed the game without a statistic in the 19-3 victory. Moreover, he made his tackle in his first career when the Cowboys lost with 17-42 to the Denver Broncos. His first career sack was recorded against the game with Kansas City Chief. Also, in the last five games, he has two out of three sacks.

On Septemeber 18, 2019, Dallas Cowboys released Taco as per his request, as Dallas failed to find a trade partner.
