Vasyl was born on the 17th of February, 1988 in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, with the name Vasiliy Anatoliyovych Lomachenko. He is the son of Anatoly Lomachenko and Tetiana Lomachenko. Furthermore, his father was a boxing coach. Later, Lomachenko married Elena Lomachenko. Also, the couple has one son together.
Besides, he holds the nationality of Ukrainian. Standing at a height of 5 feet 7 inches (1.7 m), and weigh about 60 kg, he has been able to maintain his body fit and healthy. Moreover, his blonde hair color and blue eye color reflects his amazing personality.

Career
In his amateur career, Vasyl won a silver medal against Abner Cotto in the 2007 World Championships in Chicago. Furthermore, in the 2008 Olympics Games which happened in Beijing, he won a gold medal. In the tournament, Vasyl was named outstanding boxer of the tournament. Furthermore, the tournament also awarded him the Val Barker Trophy.
He also won a gold medal at the 2009 World Championships. He then also won the 2010 World Championships and became a two-weight world champion. Furthermore, Vasyl also won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games for the second time. Also, He participated in the lightweight division of the World Series of the Boxing in 2013 before he turned professional.
