Lourd is born to actress Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd. Furthermore, she is the granddaughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and singer Eddie Fisher. Also, she is the niece of Todd Fisher, Joely Fisher, and Tricia Leigh Fisher. Furthermore, her nieces have worked in showbusiness. She has a stepsister named Ava. Likewise, Lourd is of Russian-Jewish and Scottish-Irish descent. Lourd graduated from New York University in 2014. She majored in law.

Lourd played a role in the 2015 Star Wars sequel film The Force Awakens as Lieutenant Connix along with co stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy, Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max von Sydow. Furthermore, she auditioned for the lead role of Rey for The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017. However, it was played by Daisy Ridley. Furthermore, Lourd appeared in the second installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017). She will return in the third film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which will release this year.

She played the role of Lieutenant Connix in the 2015 Star Wars: The Force Awakens. She then appeared for the sequel of the movie in 2017 as well as 2019. She has also played the role of Rosanna Ricci for the Billionaire Boys Club in 2018 alongside Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, Kevin Spacey, Emma Roberts, Jeremy Irvine, Thomas Cocquerel, Rosanna Arquette, Cary Elwes, and Judd Nelson. She then appeared in the American Horror Story: Cult for a total of 10 episodes as Winter Anderson.
