PLOT

The plot is based on a fictional African nation of Zamunda and its crown prince Akeem Joffer who feels weary of his pampered lifestyle and wishes to do something more in his life on his 21st birthday. Similarly, Akeem and his best friend Semmi travel to the New York City borough of Queens after his parents present him with an arranged bride-to-be. They rent a squalid tenement under the guise of poor foreign students in the neighborhood of Long Island City. Akeem joins a rally where the locals are invited and then encounters Lisa McDowell and finds her attractive. In addition, the plot then shows the romantic relations and the complication between Akeem and Lisa.

The sequel to the 1988 film ‘Coming to America’ released on March 4, 2021. This film was released digitally via Prime Video. Following its release, Amazon claimed the film had the best opening weekend of any streaming film since March 2020.
