Early Life
Embiid is the son of Thomas Embiid and Christine Embiid. Thomas is a military officer by profession. Talking about his educational qualifications, he enrolled at Montverde Academy. However, Joel transferred after his first year because of a lack of playing time. Later, he attended The Rock School, which is a Christian academy in Gainesville, Florida.
Career
Embiid declared for the 2014 NBA draft on the 9th of April, 2014 and forgo his final three years of college eligibility. The Philadelphia 76ers selected him as the third overall pick on the 26th of June, 2014. He signed his rookie scale contract on the 26th of August, 2014, with the 76ers. Later, he was ruled out to play in the 2014–15 season due to the broken navicular bone in his foot. Therefore, he missed his entire 2014-15 season. His team has players like Shake Milton and Ben Simmons.
National Team
The preliminary team named Joel on the 7th of February, 2017 to compete in the 2017 FIBA AfroBasket in the Republic of Congo. The group qualifiers took place in March during the NBA regular season.
