Nascar Cup Series 2019
What is Nascar Cup Series?
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) is a racing series of NASCAR. It has been named for its sponsor, Monster Energy since 2017, but has been known by many other names in the past. The series started in 1949 as the Strictly Stock Division, and it was known as the Grand National Division from 1950 to 1970.
The championship is determined by a points system. The points are awarded according to finish placement and the number of laps led and the season is divided into two segments. After the first 26 races, 16 drivers, which are selected primarily based on wins, are seeded based on their total number of wins. The process of selection, which is known as the NASCAR playoffs, occurs as the players compete in the last ten races, where the difference in points is greatly minimized.
Cup Series cars are unique in automobile racing with powerful engines to reach the speed of over 200 mph, but their weight coupled with a relatively simple aerodynamic package makes for poor handling.
The 2019 season of the NASCAR Cup series began with the Advance Auto Parts Clash, the Gander RV Duel qualifying races and the 61st running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. The regular season will end in September with the Brickyard 400. The playoffs will end on the 17th of November, 2019 with the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead–Miami Speedway.
The 2019 season is the fifth of the 10-year television contract with Fox Sports and NBC Sports and the fourth of a five-year race sanctioning agreement with all tracks. It is the first season in which Ford replaces the Fusion and fields the Mustang GT. This is the final season of the sponsor Monster Energy since they found a new tiered sponsorship model.
