Who is WayV?

WayV is the fourth sub-unit of the Hallyu localization project group, Neo Culture Technology (NCT). WayV is the China-based unit of NCT. The unit is made up of seven members: Ten, Kun, Winwin, Hendery, Lucas, Xiaojun, and Yangyang. This group was first introduced on the 13th of August, 2018 as NCT China and later on the 31st of December, 2018, the seven-member line-up would debut in January of 2019 as WayV, which would function under SM Entertainment’s China-exclusive label, Label V.

The seven members of WayV were all part of SM Rookies, which is a pre-debut training team maintained by SM Entertainment. Some members of the boy band have already debuted under other units of NCT, whereas some were additions to the exclusive NCT 2019.

Ten was the first member to debut along with the first unit, NCT U, on the 9th of April, 2016. Winwin later debuted with the second unit, NCT 127, on the 7th of July, 2016. Kun and Lucas were both included in NCT 2018 and NCT U.

WayV was first announced via NCT’s Twitter account under the project name NCT China. NCT’s fourth unit WayV, was announced through the NCT WayV’s official Weibo account.

Album

WayV released their first digital EP, titled “The Vision,” with a Chinese version of NCT 127’s “Regular” as the lead single on the 17th of January, 2019. WayV announced their first mini-album titled “Take off” on the 9th of May, 2019, after the date published on the 1st of May, 2019.

The fandom name for WayV is NCTzen, which means all the fans are the citizens of NCT, and the fandom color is Lime.

1. Kun

Kun was born on the 1st of January, 1996 on Fujian, China. His birth name is Qian Kun, and his Korean name is Jeon Gon. He takes the position of Rapper, Main Vocalist, and leader for the group.

2. Ten

Ten was born on the 27th of February, 1996, in Bangkok, Thailand. His birth name is Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul, and his Chinese and the Korean names are Li Yong Qin and Lee Young Heum, respectively. He takes the position of the leading dancer, lead Vocalist, and lead rapper for the team.

3. WinWin

He was born on the 28th of October, 1997 on Wenzhou, Zheijiang, the People’s Republic of China. His birth name is Dong Si Cheng, and his Korean name is Dong Sa Sung. He takes the position of Vocalist, Visual, and lead dancer for the group.

4. Lucas

He was born on the 25th of January, 1999, in Hong Kong, China. His birth name is Huang Xu Xi, and the Korean name is Hwang Wook-Hee. He takes the position of Vocalist, Main rapper and Center for the group

5. Xiaojun

He was born on the 8th of August, 1999, in Guangdong, China. His birth name is Xiao Dejun, and his Korean name is So Deok Jun. He takes the position of Main Vocalist and rapper for the group

6. Hendery

He was born on the 28th of September, 1999, in Macau, the People’s Republic of China. His birth name is Won Kunhang, and his Korean name is Hwang Kwan Hyung. He takes the position of lead dancer, rapper, Vocalist and visual for the group

7. Yangyang

He was born on the 10th of October, 2000, in Taiwan, Republic of China. His birth name is Liu YangYang, and the Korean name is Ryu YangYang. He takes the position of the Main rapper, Lead dancer, Vocalist and the youngest member of the group
