Rondo is the son of William Rondo and Amber Rondo. Furthermore, he has three siblings. Firstly, Rondo was interested in football. However, his mother steered him towards basketball since she felt that the sport would be less punishing on his skinny frame.
Career
Rondo announced he would forgo his final two seasons at Kentucky after the 2005-06 season and enter the NBA draft. Phoenix Suns drafted Rondo as the 21st overall in the 2006 NBA Draft. Later, Phoenix traded him to the Boston Celtics for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ first-round draft pick along with Brian Grant in the 2007 NBA draft. Furthermore, he was the first point guard to be chosen in the draft. The Boston Celtics signed Rondo on the 4th of July, 2006. Rondo was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on the 18th of December, 2014 along with Dwight Powell in exchange for Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright. He made his debut for the Mavericks on the 6th of July scoring six points on 3-for-11 shooting to go with nine assists and seven rebounds against San Antonio Spurs in a 99–93 win.
Rondo returned to Boston on the 2nd of January, 2015 and scored a career-high 15 first-quarter points. He finished with a season-best 29 to lead Dallas to a 119–101 victory. Furthermore, Rondo signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Sacramento Kings on the 13th of July, 2015. He made his debut for the Kings on the 28th of October, 2015 in their season opener and recorded four points, seven rebounds and four assists against Los Angeles Clippers in a 111–104 loss. Rondo signed a two-year, $28 million contract with the Chicago Bulls on the 7th of July 2016. Furthermore, he made his debut for the Bulls on the 27th of October in their season opener against the Boston Celtics.
New Orleans Pelicans
Rondo signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the New Orleans Pelicans on the 19th of July, 2017. However, he was diagnosed with a sports hernia on the 8th of October, 2017. He underwent surgery two days later and ruled out for four to six weeks. He made his debut for the Pelicans on the 13th of November, 2017 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Los Angeles Lakers
Rondo signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on the 6th of July, 2018. The Lakers expected him to mentor and compete with second-year point guard Lonzo Ball.
