David Foster

Who is David Foster?

David Walter Foster is a Canadian musician, composer, record producer, songwriter, and arranger. Foster was nominated for the Grammy Awards from 47 nominations.

Early Life

Foster was born to a maintenance yard superintendent and a homemaker. He enrolled in the University of Washington music program in 1963 at the age of 13. Furthermore, he auditioned to lead a band in a nightclub owned by famous jazz musician Tommy Banks. Moreover, Tommy mentored David in the music business, jazz and producing records. Later, he moved to Toronto and played with Ronnie Hawkins. Furthermore, he joined a backup band for Chuck Berry and later moved to Los Angeles in 1974 with his then group, Skylark.

Personal Life of David Foster

Foster has married for a total of five times. Furthermore, he has five biological daughters and seven grandchildren. Firstly, he married the singer and writer B.J. Cook. They have a daughter together. Secondly, he married Rebecca Dyer on the 27th of October, 1982. They later divorced in 1986. He has three daughters with Dyer. His third wife is actress Linda Thompson; however, they divorced in 2005. Foster’s fourth wife is a Dutch model named Yolanda Hadid. Their divorce was finalized in May of 2017. On the 28th of June, 2019, David Foster married a singer, songwriter, and actress Katharine McPhee at the Armenian Church. The church is located at South Kensington in London.
